Sunny Day to All, I was invited to an African Gala in Washington DC with my girls this past Sunday. Let's just say we had a blast! About 2 weeks ago, we went fabric shopping together and picked this beautiful Ankara fabric. I wasn't sure of the pattern yet but I just knew I had to sew a beautiful piece for this special night. MimiG's Simplicity 8394 was just perfect. I have to admit that this was my very first time sewing a non-stretch fabric and I was very nervous. I could not be happier with the outcome. I paired this outfit with my black and gold Steve Madden sandals and accessorized it with gold Jewelry. As far as my hair, I went for a short look for my locks. No, I did not cut my hair! Ha! Hair done by me. :-) Enjoy these few pics! About the pattern This pattern is great for intermediate beginner. Patience is definitely necessary especially if you are using a pattern fabric like I did. I had to play around with the fabric to make sure the sides were matching. I am really proud of myself with this one. MimiG has a sew along video if you are a beginner but the instructions are great. I cut size 18 to be on the safe side and had to adjust it on me. I had to sew in the bottom part of the skirt a little bit more to achieve the final look. That was my only alteration. I will definitely sew this again. Happy Sewing to you! Blessed to have this wonderful sisterhood!!! Of Course I had to feature my sisters as well since we wore the same fabric (Left to right: Elizabeth, Jennifer and Farah). I wish I could take credit for all the beautiful outfits, but I only made mine. LOL. This was truly a night to remember. We had a blast! But then again, we always do when we get together. I am truly grateful for this sisterhood. Love you Ladies and thank you for allowing me to share some pics. Muuuaaaah!!!!
