Sunny Day to All,
Last Friday, my husband and I traveled to Cancun, Mexico to attend our cousin's wedding. I decided to sew this dress to wear for the rehearsal dinner. I made it on Thursday night before we left. I used two different patterns. I wanted my shoulders out and wanted a split bottom so Simplicity 1613 was perfect for the top and McCall 6744 was great for the bottom.

We stayed at the beautiful Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun. I had my hair done by the greatest stylist Cyndy Dumay before I left Maryland. Of Course I enjoyed my cabernet all weekend long :-). I paired my beautiful dress with some lime green exotic jewelry and my white sandals. I got this beautiful fabric from Michael Levine when I went to LA in October for my birthday.

About the Pattern

I already had a look in mind for this fabric and to accomplish this look, I had to use two patterns. The off the shoulder top was easy to make using view D of Simplicity 1613.  I then cut the medium size of the bottom part of McCall 6744 view D. I am getting very comfortable with my machine and my sewing. I thought this was very easy to sew. It took me three hours to finish this beautiful dress and I was very happy with the outcome. I used elastics for both the shoulders and the waist. Looking for an easy combination? Well this is it! Happy sewing to You!

Happy New Year!!!!! Simplicity 8138

Sunny Day to All,
Let me just start by wishing each and everyone of you a successful New Year 2018 filled with laughter, health and Love. It has been a while since I shared a post. I have been so busy with my day time career that I have not had the chance to sew as much as I would love to.  One of my new year resolution is to sew some more. Sewing makes me happy and elevates me to another level.

So, Cheers to another successful year!!!! I spent the Holidays in Haiti this year with my family. I actually took a few of my pieces to Haiti to show them off, Ha! Now that I think about it, I might post about my trip to Haiti and share some pics . I made this tunic before but once I saw this fabric that I purchased from GStreet fabric in Rockville Maryland, I knew I had to make something long that flows in the wind. Simplicity 8138 was the winner. I wore this tunic for my Godson Birthday party in Haiti at my sister's house. I paired it with my ripped Jessica Simpson Jeans, some rose gold jewelry and my Old navy Sandals. (Hair Due by the Fabulous Cyndy Dumay) So without holding you back, below are some pics.

About The Pattern

This pattern is extremely easy. Any beginner can make this within a few hours. The pattern was only 3 pieces. The instructions were easy to follow and it only took me 2 hours to cut and sew right before I left for the airport. I will make this again as a cover up for the beach. Happy Sewing to You!
