Sunny Day to All, How to rock a "Moumou"? Ha! At least that's what Haitians call those type of dresses. I wonder if my brother Hans would call this a Moumou? Mmmmmmm.... Enough joking around... It has not been that sunny on the East coast lately. I was hoping for some sun for Memorial weekend. Let's just say that it was a very wet weekend and I spent a lot of time in my sewing room. I have a few outfits that I can't wait to share with you guys. This dress was made using McCall 7562, view D. I made some minor alterations but I love the outcome. Comfortable and Breezy! I could easily rock this with some flats but I chose the sexy look and wore my rose gold heels. About to Pattern This pattern was super easy. I chose to make it really simple by making a round neck line. I cut size medium. It only took about 2 hours. I have worn this without the belt before. This is definitely a beginner's pattern. I would make this again as a cover up for the summer. It's a must! Happy sewing to you and please don't forget to say hello!

Sunny Day to All, I have been very busy lately and have not had a lot of time to post anything. I have been sewing, just haven't had time for photo shoots and blogging. Well, I am back with this beautiful jumpsuit that I made to attend this All-White party last night. It took me about 4 hours to make this. The fabric is like a stretch cotton. I usually make dresses but this time around, I wanted to be comfortable but classy chic. I used MimiG's simplicity 1283 to help achieve this look. I will give more details about the pattern below. I wore the jumpsuit with my Calvin Klein belt but could have wore it without it as well. I paired it with gold jewelries and my old Dereon gold sandals, very comfy by the way. I love wearing white. I am one of those that wear white whenever I want regardless of the season. Let me know your thought on this look. Enjoy the pics! About the Pattern I used Simplicity 1283 to achieve this look. I loved the high waited pants pattern so I used that for the bottom part of the jumpsuit. I used the crop top pattern for for the top part of the jumpsuit. I cut the front piece for the top on the fold instead of having a seam in the middle. I added a zipper in the back and that's it!!!! Hope you enjoy the look. Happy Sewing to you and don't forget to say hello.
Sunny Day to All, This past weekend was a busy one for me. It is First Communion season! I was invited to 3 of them this past Sunday. Although I had a full schedule as I was helping with one of them in particular, I was able to squeeze three hours to sew this one up quickly on Saturday. I've been meaning to duplicate this look of MimiG a while back with pattern S8380. This is what sewing is all about, getting inspired and making it happen your own way. That blue gave me life this weekend. Of course, I decided to complete the African look by wrapping my locs with the same fabric. I paired this dress with gold jewelries and my Blue pumps. I can't remember where I got those from. They are old. Ha! Enjoy these few pics! About the Pattern Simplicity 8380 was very easy to follow. I will definitely say that as long as one is comfortable with sewing zippers, this will be an easy one. As far as alterations, I replaced the borders with a blue bias tape to accent the blue and also hemmed it the same way. I wear a 6 in regular clothes, so for this pattern, I use the size 12 and added an extra inch on each size to make sure that it would fit. Of course, I had to adjust it to my body. This Ankara fabric does not stretch so if you cut it too small, you will need to cut the piece all over again. I really loved the final look. Thanks for visiting my blog! Happy Sewing to You and don't forget to say hello!
