Sunny Day to All, I love wrap dresses. I know the summer is getting to an end but I promised myself to sew some dresses that I can wear to work. So, I did just that! I hope I can still rock this dress with some tights during the fall because I love it. Tuesday was my sister's birthday and her favorite color is blue. Happy Birthday Alexandra!!!! So I thought I would rock the blue on that day. She didn't get to see the dress since she is in Haiti, but I know she will love this post. I wore it to work and snapped a few pictures before getting on the road. Thanks Hubby! I used Butterick 6054 to achieve this look. I paired it with my Michael Antonio heels and some pearls. Pearls always seal the deal. Enjoy the pictures. About the Pattern Butterick 6054 was easy but I had to unstitch the pleats in the front, walk away from it and then take my time to do it over. I am keeping it real with you guys. I love small details however, they can be nerve racking at times. Don't let this stop you! I had to stop, walk away and come back the next day just for the pleats and I was just fine after trying a second time. I am saying this to explain that even I, can walk away from a piece but determination is what will help one get better at it.
I consider B6054 an intermediate level pattern just because of the pleats. I cut a size 12 and it was very comfortable for me. The instructions were clear. I just had issues with the pleats, that's all. I used a light weight knit fabric and it was perfect. I did not make any alterations to the dress. I will definitely make this dress again. A lady can never have too many wrap dresses. Thank you so much for stopping by and Happy Sewing to You!

Sunny Day to All, OH MY!!! It has been a minute! I thought I was going to sew an entire collection this summer. I bought so many fabrics. I was ready, but life had another plan for me. I had two unexpected deaths in the family. Two great souls that have been around me all my life past away without warning. There is not much to say other than, my summer sewing plans went down the drain. Every time I tried to sew, I could not get it together. It just felt like I needed some time so I did just that. I took some time off from sewing and boy, do I miss it! So, I'm back with this beautiful mini dress. I have a lot of Ankara/African fabric so I thought, why not make a come back with this beautiful green sunny dress that I made a couple of months ago. I used Simplicity 8264 to achieve this look and I love the final look. I paired it with orange custom jewelry, my nude heels and my new gold and white shades. Enjoy these few pics! About the PatternSimplicity 8264 was pretty easy and straight forward. If you are comfortable with zippers, this is a beginner pattern. I cut a size 12. I only made 2 alterations to this dress. I made the neck ruffle shorter and I also made the actual dress shorter. You guys know I'm only 5 feet tall so I always have to cut my patterns shorter. I will definitely sew this Cynthia Rowley Simplicity pattern again using a thicker/heavier material for the fall or winter. It feels good to be back! Happy Sewing to You!!!
