Sunny Day to All, I was invited to a Black and Gold affair on Saturday night. I have plenty of black dresses in my closet however, I felt the need to sew something new. I had a double knit black fabric with sparkles in my stash and got a half a yard of gold sequence fabric from G Street fabrics. I wanted to come up with something different so I used 2 different patterns McCall 6886 and McCall 7569. I combined both patterns and added a custom shoulder design and there you go! I paired it with my Dereon gold sequence sandals and gold jewelries. By the way, one may choose to wear this dress with no bra but since I am not heavy chested, I chose to wear a strapless black bra. LOL. Enjoy these few pics and let me know what you think of the outcome! About the Pattern I used McCall 7569 for the top of the dress and connected it with McCall 6886 to make it a dress with no waistline seam. There were a few alterations. I added 2 darts in the back of the dress, added a side zipper, made the key hole smaller in the front and added 2 custom-made triangles/peplums on one shoulder. To blend it in, I used some double folded bias tape to border the sequence fabric. It toned it down and gave the dress that final designer look. I cut size 12 and it was a too big so I had to take it in on both side. I enjoy playing with different patterns to come up with my final imaginary look. Happy Sewing to You!
