Colorful Maxi Skirt

Sunny Day to All,

Last weekend was a busy one for me. I had several graduation parties to attend and of course, I always want to wear a custom piece. I wanted to garden, clean the house, do my hair, get the nails done, cook and sew. Of course, sewing always get squeezed in. Ha! I needed to make something quick for this graduation party because I didn't have enough time for a fancy pattern. I had this beautiful colorful lime green with flowers fabric that I purchased at an Ankara wholesale fabric store in Washington DC a while back. I had envisioned a maxi skirt as soon as I saw the fabric.  And what better pattern to use then MimiG's Regal Maxi tutorial. It was perfect and quick! Because the fabric was so busy, I paired it with a simple white tank top and my beautiful sandals' from Mara's (from Haiti) and some custom colorful jewelry that I thought was perfect for the busy look. I almost forgot to mention that , with the excess fabric, I was able to make a headband that I also wore to complete the look. Needless to say, I felt like a Queen! Enjoy the pictures!

About the Pattern

MimiG's Regal Maxi tutorial is very easy to follow. You do need more than 3 yards for this pattern. In my case, I needed more, as I wanted the flowers in the front of the dress. I had to position my fabric a certain way to achieve this look. The sew-along video was on point. The skirt was perfect and I got plenty of compliments.
