Sunny Day to All, October 20th was my birthday. I usually party hard for my birthday. To celebrate this chapter 38 year, I chose to go away with the hubby for a nice and relaxing weekend. We went to one of our favorite peaceful location, Williamsburg Virginia. I really did not have a lot of time to sew prior to leaving so I pulled a few garments that I made previously but was never able to photograph or wear. I figured I could rock them while in Williamsburg and have hubby snap a few pictures so I could share them on the blog. The resort was beautiful. There were quite a few areas that had a perfect background for a photoshoot. I took those pictures on Saturday October 19th. I didn't want to take a chance as I know that it always rain on my birthday. Sure enough, it poured all day on Sunday for my actual birthday. I had a fantastic weekend. I rested, I had a full body massage already planned for me and enjoyed some true quality time. Ok, ok, ok... Enough about my birthday! I don't remember where I purchased this fabric. I had it for quite some time. I wasn't sure if I wanted a dress or a asymmetrical skirt with this fabric. I decided on making this simple peep hole dress. The fabric is a sweater knit fabric, so perfect for the fall. I made this pattern before as a shirt (HERE). This pattern is very simple and that front opening adds a little sexiness to the pattern. I am referring to McCall 7621. I paired this beautiful dress with a black belt, my ankle boots, my Go To Ray Ban shades and silver jewelry. Enjoy these few pictures as I felt simply beautiful. About The PatternMcCall 7621 is super easy. Just follow the directions and you will have a beautiful dress. I am 5 feet tall so if I wanted this dress to be a little sexier, I would have made it a little shorter and took a few inches in towards the bottom of the dress. I cut a medium and chose to follow the exact instructions. I love the final look. I will definitely make this dress again hopefully in a double-knit fabric. I hope you like this dress. As always, thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to say Hello! Happy Sewing to You!

Sunny Day to All, I woke up one morning and decided to make a dress that would fit no matter what the outcome was from my medical procedure. I wanted an oversized dress where I could easily hide weight gain or imperfection while I loose the weight. I looked through my pattern and found McCall 7800. This pattern looked fun. The sleeves took the attention away from the actual dress. I had this Polka dot fabric that I purchased from Gstreet fabric. And thought: Perfect!!!! It was still very nice outside so I paired it with some simple white wedges and my gold and white busy necklace. This is one of the dress that brought a smile to my face while sewing it. This dress has a special place in my heart. Also, I should share that I received plenty of compliment for this oversized dress. Enjoy these few pictures! About the PatternMcCall 7800 is definitely a quick pattern. This dress is very simple and the sleeves are super fun to make. I cut size 14 which happened to be loose and oversized. This is an oversized dress. For reference purposes, I usually cut a 14 for the McCall patterns. The instructions were super clear and easy. I used this simple white bias tape to finish the sleeves and thought it was a nice touch to the final look. Happy Sewing to You!
Sunny Day to All, There is so much I can say about this. But I think the shirt says it all. Plus, it is probably to painful to write about it. So I am going to leave it at that and say a big " Thank you to Tabitha Sewer for creating this shirt. It says it all and it actually makes me feel better just wearing it. Everyone has that "thing" that make them forget about pain. For some, it's sports, singing, dancing, crafting etc.... For me, dancing and sewing have always been my go to. That has not changed. Hubby and I went to Great Falls in Virginia for a picnic to spend a couple of hours to bond and talk about everything. It was awesome! The water fall was beautiful as always and the weather was perfect. So we thought, why not snap some pics wearing this shirt that describes how I feel and shout out the amazing sewist that created it. If sewing has helped you or is helping you heal for any reason, head over to Tabitha Sewer's page to purchase your shirt. I bought this one a while back but she has another design available. Let's support a fellow sewist. Sunny Day to All, I am super proud of this one. I wanted to wear something sexy and different to this event in Florida. I saw a two piece set on an instagram model and thought, "WOW... I can make that". This is the beauty of sewing. We see it, we like it, we make it and we rock it! I self drafted the shorts and picked Simplicity 1538 to make the top. This is my very first button front shirt. I have always been scared of button front shirts. I am not sure why I was because this pattern was so easy to make. I actually made the shorts in about an hour and a half and the shirt in one evening. While sewing the shirt, I had a friend over and she kept me company the entire time. So timing was not an issue. We had some wine and talked all night while I made the shirt. I am still working on my weight post surgery but I didn't care. I just wanted to please myself. I wanted to rock this crop top button front shirt with some shorts and that is what I did. It felt so good making this outfit and it felt so great wearing it. I paired it with my gold jewelry and my neon Steve Madden heels. My very good friend was kind enough to snap some pictures before we walked out. So here I am, sharing them with you guys with a big smile on my face. Enjoy these few pics. I made some custom pleated sleeves. Please see below. About the PatternSimplicity 1538 was the perfect choice and super easy. I chose view C and made some alterations to the pattern. I changed the sleeves. I self drafted them, made 2 huge pleats and used an elastic at the end. Super cute! This pattern is considered intermediate. The instructions are pretty easy to follow. As far as the shorts, I self drafted them and actually made 2 of them that night. This 2 piece set was a success. I will leave you guys with plenty of positive energy and a smile. Happy Sewing to You and don't forget to leave a comment.
Sunny Day to All, As promised, I am back to share this beautiful dress that I made during this difficult time of my life. I needed to sew to bring a smile to my face again. And it did. I chose a pattern that I knew I could finish rather quickly, Vogue 9021. I had this beautiful fabric from GStreet Fabric. It was just about 2 and half yards. The beautiful black and white pattern made it easy to style. I wore it to work on this special day and felt absolutely beautiful. I had a special glow... Before leaving home, hubby hugged me and told me that I was the most beautiful woman in the world. I remember that special morning very well. Of course, he was kind enough to capture some pictures for me in my yellow heals before I quickly switch to my flats. A sister had to take the pictures in those yellow heels to match the beautiful necklace. I got plenty of compliments and was extremely productive at work that day. My day ended at the Shrine in DC as I wanted to attend mass before the end of the day. I am smiling just thinking about that day. I will leave you with pictures of this special dress. Enjoy! About the PatternVogue 9021 was the perfect pattern. If you are looking for something easy, this is it. Warning; you will have to wear a tank underneath as your entire side is out. Some chooses to close up the side so feel free to do so. I like to follow a pattern and then decide what I would do differently next time. I cut a side 14 and picked View A. I made it a little loose since I wanted to be able to wear it to work. The next version of this pattern will be tighter and might actually be a little shorter. I definitely will make this again very soon. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Sewing to you!
